Kids Over Conflict
Kids Over Conflict is an online parenting intervention we are developing specifically designed for parents experiencing high inter-parental conflict (HIC) during a divorce or separation.
This court-administered program emphasizes the possibility of parallel parenting rather than cooperative parenting. We are incorporating an adapted version of the Parent Management Training–Oregon (PMTO) approach with brief, digitally delivered motivational interviewing sessions to boost engagement and behavior change.
Developed in partnership with researchers at the University of Illinois Chicago, and family court stakeholders, the intervention aims to improve parenting practices and enhance the well-being of children in high-conflict families.
In Phase I, Trifoia is creating four prototype modules and will be conducting research to tailor the content and delivery to the needs of parents involved in separation or divorce while also ensuring it meets the implementation constraints of court system administration.
ACTPlan - Advance Care Treatment Planning for Loved Ones with Dementia
Making end of life treatment decisions for loved ones with dementia can be difficult for anyone. African Americans are an underserved population facing a significantly greater risk of Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias than white Americans. In collaboration with Collinge and Associates, Inc., Trifoia is translating an evidence-based, culturally-tailored, in-person curriculum for African American dementia caregivers into a multimedia program that will be evaluated in a randomized controlled trial. Over the course of the three-year grant, funded by the National Institute on Aging, Trifoia will produce scenario-based videos, develop the online course, and provide hosting and support during the research study.
We Have Choices - Efficacy Study
Trifoia is working with the Oregon Research Institute (ORI) and Arizona State University to test the efficacy of the We Have Choices (WHC) social skills curriculum for Grades 4 to 6. Trifoia provides graphic design, media production, and technology integration services for this federally funded research grant.
BlackFULLness: An mHealth App to Help African Americans Reduce Their Stress
Working with research colleagues at Spelman College, and the creators of the BlackFULLness app, Trifoia has completed development and evaluation of the mindfulness app tailored to the cultural values of the African American community, a population current mindfulness apps have been unsuccessful in engaging. BlackFULLness includes educational content, guided practices, and features like goal setting to help African Americans improve their health through mindfulness.

This video is being developed in both English and Spanish to serve the diverse residents of Lane County, OR. The video will link to the Oregon Problem Gambling Resource website so residents can access further help.
Personal relevance of psychotherapy for Asian Americans: A mobile health problem-solving intervention to reduce stress.
The development of a mobile health application aimed at reducing physical and cultural impediments experienced by Asian-Americans seeking mental health services. In collaboration with scientists from the University of Oregon, Drexel University, and the University of California, Davis, Trifoia is developing a user-centered app with personally relevant, skills-based psycho-social interventions to better engage Asian-Americans with mental health services and reduce the instance of psychological difficulties including anxiety and depression.
The Pyramid Model Consortium
The Pyramid Model Consortium (PMC) is a non-profit research center promoting healthy childhood social-emotional development through evidence-based approaches. Trifoia regularly collaborates with PMC to develop Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support for children, families, and teachers. Courses include:
Trauma Informed Care: Trifoia collaborated with PMC to research and develop objective-based content and materials for a 10-hour ePyramid series related to toxic stress, trauma, and resilience.
Early Intervention Training for Professionals: Trifoia and PMC created a family-based coaching training program aimed at embedding positive support and intervention practices into families’ daily lives. Trifoia developed an interactive course for PMC with packaged content and videos that connect to e-commerce channels.
Law Enforcement and Social Service Training: Trifoia developed a course for PMC to train law enforcement personnel and social services professionals in communication and intervention skills with minors in traumatic situations to avoid re-traumatization and improve positive outcomes.
Washington Aerospace Training & Research Center Digital Training Program
The Washington Aerospace Training & Research Center, part of Edmonds College, sought out Trifoia’s help to build a comprehensive digital training program for its students. Trifoia developed seven customized digital learning courses for the center, which will use the material to augment its in-person aerospace career training with hybrid and online components, making its curriculum accessible to a wider array of learners.

Simple songs and animated animal friends enliven short video lessons. Video examples show students in multiple classrooms practicing, improving, and enjoying learning social skills.
Peripheral Neuropathy Relief by Healwell
Peripheral Neuropathy Relief by Healwell is an app for caregivers with loved ones who suffer from Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy. The training included in the app is designed by Trifoia and professional massage therapists at Healwell specifically for non-professionals who may be caring for a loved one, family member, or friend.
Peripheral Neuropathy massage is a simple technique that is easy to teach and to learn and has dramatically positive effects on symptoms. The project's main goal is not simply to provide instructions for the technique but to encourage and inspire caregivers so that they can positively impact the lives of the people they care about as they recover from cancer.
